Ronald Koeman has a new favorite in the Barcelona B squad.

Barcelona B youngster Ilaix Moriba has reportedly been playing extremely well for his level, which has led to Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman into checking the player out.

More from Everything Barca

It looks like the youngster has completely caught the attention of the Dutchman. It is a surprising piece of news because, since the arrival of Koeman at the Nou Camp, he has been getting rid of players or planning to get rid of players more than signing and keeping them.

The players he has axed or plan to axe do contain some fine talented youngsters too like Riqui Puig, Carles Alena, Samuel Umtiti, Luis Suarez and Jean-Clair Todibo. However, it now looks like Koeman has found a youngster of his preference.

With Alena set to join Getafe on loan in this current ongoing January transfer window, the youngster Ilaix Moriba has now been called up to regular first-team training sessions with the main squad of Barcelona.

The Dutch coach has been heavily impressed with the youngster and it looks like he will be getting some opportunities to play some games in the La Liga or other cup competitions. Alena’s exit means that the former Everton boss will be needing a replacement in the first squad and with so many regular training sessions it looks like Moriba might just be that replacement.

Koeman will probably end up loaning talented youngsters like Alena and Puig but it looks like Moriba might just make the cut. The Spanish giants are also looking to sign Manchester City’s Eric Garcia and probably will also be going after Lyon’s Memphis Depay in this current ongoing January transfer window. Koeman is looking to rebuild properly but with all the injuries and financial problems, it has not been very easy. Having said that, a few signings are bound to happen once a new president is elected.
