Liverpool ready to swap Sadio Mane with Barcelona superstar

Liverpool reportedly want an insane swap with Barcelona.

It is fair to say that till yesterday, Antoine Griezmann was enduring a very tough season in Barcelona. The ex-Atletico Madrid forward had to take Luis Suarez’s role as the goal scorer but he could not adapt to the role of a sole striker. His failing performance with on-going controversies indicated that the French player could move away from the club in the near future. Now it seems as if Liverpool is willing to hand the player a lifeline and Barcelona a fresh talent, in the form of Sadio Mane.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner was a big move for Barcelona. They spent 120 million euros on a player who was known to get goals and create chances for the strikers. He had a lot of expectations coming in but he could not live up to them in his first season. He managed to score only nine goals and provide just four assists in the La Liga the previous season whereas in Atletico, he was constantly scoring more than 10 league goals minimum.

His current season has not been a comeback either. He has scored five goals in 17 appearances in the league, two coming last night in the game against Granada. Ronald Koman has come to the conclusion that Griezmann is not the man who can bring goals to the club and he has to be used in the wings. He has started to prefer Ousmane Dembele over Griezmann and he stated in an interview before the clash against Athletic Bilbao that Dembele is more strong and physical. He said,

"“If we play with three midfielders, we must find who plays up because there are only three positions. We have Messi and Ousmane Dembélé is much better physically and he is a player that I like a lot because he opens the spaces. I like these types of players. I have to choose because everyone cannot play and I have done so in the last few games”Source Sport"

The 29-year-old has constantly felt undervalued at Barcelona plus there has been a lot of controversies with Lionel Messi. There have been rumors stating that the Argentine wanted the club to offload Griezmann, which has also affected the player’s morale. The player is not happy at Barcelona and a move away would be good for him. He needs to feel important and appreciated again. Having said that, these rumors should be taken with a pinch of salt as the pair have been seen sharing moments together and are very much happy with each other.

This is where Liverpool is helping out the Catalans. After last night’s match, it is evidently clear that the French man still has a lot left in his locker and Jurgen Klopp would definitely want him at Merseyside. Klopp could decide to offer Koeman, Sadio Mane, as the winger never shared a very good bond with his coach. Mane who is 28 years old now, would also appreciate the change in scenarios as he has already won everything with the Reds and a new challenge would be exciting.

This would be a good transfer for both the clubs and for both the players. Mane would get a chance to pursue new challenges while Griezmann would get the chance to turn over a new leaf in his career. Koeman would also like Mane in the club as the Senegalese can play on both the wings as well as play as a center-forward. Klopp would also get to have a player who is hungry to prove himself after a rather disturbing season at Barcelona.
