#2 More Center-back options

The left-back position is not the only area in the defense that needs fixing, the heart of the backline is also aging. Gerard Pique has been their go-to man since 2008 but now it is time to offload him for someone younger.

Pique is now 33 years of age and is nowhere as good as he used to play a couple of years ago. He makes silly mistakes, leaves his position, and no longer has the same pace that he used to. Add to that his latest injury which will sideline him at least till March, and it becomes clear that the club needs a reliable replacement.

Replacing him with a young and more passionate player like Eric Garcia, is crucial at the moment. Barcelona needs to let go of the old players and embrace the new generation. Players such as Ronald Araujo and Oscar Mingueza should be given more chances and to be fair to Koeman, he is doing exactly that. There is no point in keeping Pique and Samuel Umtiti in their team any longer as the younger players will sooner or later need to take over and for a longer period of time.
