#3 A Proper Number 9

One of the biggest problems that Barcelona are facing right now is with their finishing. In the formation that Koeman is using, the 4-3-3, there is a need for a dedicated striker. The Catalans used to have one of the best strikers in the world, Luis Suarez, till last season but after the Dutch manager arrived, the striker was the first player to go.

After Suarez’s departure, there was no dedicated no. 9 except Martin Braithwaite but Koeman does not think he is the man for the job. The idea was to bring in Memphis Depay from Lyon and play him as the striker but due to financial reasons, that plan could not be put into action.

With the winter transfer window underway, the Spanish giants have another chance to get a much-needed striker to put balls in the back of the net. They have recently even been linked with Erling Haaland which seems a bit unrealistic but if they can pull it off, it will be one of their best transfers till date. The point is Barcelona needs someone to fill in Suarez’s boots and Braithwaite or Antoine Griezmann are not the one to do it.
