Barcelona must find a replacement for one of their defenders, Jordi Alba. Last season Junior Firpo was given the chance to prove himself but he failed to do so. The 24-year-old tried to adapt to Alba’s role of a wing-back but failed to do his defensive duties.

One of the reasons why Alba is still used frequently is because of his ability to help out the attack by playing in advanced positions, however, when Firpo tried this, he could not create good balls, could not give in good crosses, and ultimately left his man unmarked which led to quite a few goals.

His former partner Nelson Semedo was also guilty of the same mistakes and thus the club sold him to Wolves and replaced him with Sergino Dest. They need someone like Dest in the left flank as well and Firpo is just not good enough for the right.

He is already linked with an exit and is likely to leave soon because he could not succeed Alba and the longer he stays on Barcelona’s bench, the more his value will drop. Barca have already finalized two players to replace Alba when the time comes,
