According to multiple reports, Italian giants Napoli are interested in signing Barcelona left-back Junior Firpo. The former Real Betis youngster did not deliver so far for the Blaugranas like he was expected to do when he was signed. While the youngster was always an option for the injury-struck defense at the Nou Camp, it is getting clear that the defender is not going to be in the plans of Ronald Koeman during his time at Barca.

Barcelona are reportedly looking to sell the former Real Betis man as they have decided to look for a long-term replacement for club veteran Jordi Alba. While the club wanted Firpo to take over the Spaniard, the Dutch boss does not seem to be interested in keeping the player.

The Spanish giants have been linked with Valencia’s Jose Gaya and Villarreal’s Alfonso Pedraza as replacements for Alba. If the reports are true, then there is absolutely no intention from Koeman’s side to involve the young left-back in his plans. Valencia captain, Jose Gaya, is Barcelona’s main target for the upcoming summer transfer window and if that particular deal does not go through, they will move in for Villarreal’s Pedraza.

Napoli are now looking to provide Firpo an escape as the Italians feel that the young left-back would perfectly fit into their system and thrive in the Serie A. There’s no question about the talent the Barca full-back possesses.

The Italian side are in need of a left-back and this would prove to be a great opportunity for the youngster as he will be wanted by the club and will be a part of the club’s plans during his developing years.

If this particular move does pull through, Firpo will get the opportunity to reinvent his name on European soil while Barca could raise some funds for any future reinforcements.
