Serie A leaders AC Milan are reportedly after two Barcelona defenders, according to Sport via La Gazzetta dello Sport. The Rossoneri are reportedly looking to land the signature of Samuel Umtiti and Junior Firpo in the upcoming summer. Both defenders are not exactly performing at their top level for quite some time now.

Both of these footballers do not look like they are going to be a part of Ronald Koeman’s plans at the Nou Camp. As multiple sources suggest, the Catalans are looking for a new left-back in Valencia’s Jose Gaya and Villarreal’s Alfonso Pedraza. They are also on the verge of signing new centre-backs in Manchester City’s Eric Garcia, who’s been heavily linked to the club.
AC Milan want the former Real Betis left-back Junior Firpo to be an ideal and regular back-up for Theo Hernandez. This could be an ideal situation for the young defender as he did not exactly live up to his hype at the Nou Camp. This can be a huge opportunity for the player to get a fresh start in a new league and make a difference. This potential transfer can be a fantastic opportunity to turn his career around.
As for Samuel Umtiti, the Italians are looking for a centre-back of his type. The world cup winner is already proven to be dependent. However, he has had a lot of pale patches where the Frenchman has made a ton of mistakes that have led his team to suffer. A move to the Italian side gives Umtiti a fresh start at the San Siro where he will receive the opportunity to prove his worth again. With things going very well for the men in red and black, this opportunity could be fantastic for both Barca defenders.
Barcelona cannot sell in January without a President.
Milan are working the market pretty well so far currently during the ongoing January transfer window. Milan’s sporting director Paolo Maldini has already landed a couple of January transfer deals such as Mario Mandzukic and Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomoro who is on the verge of signing for the Rossoneri. However, for Firpo and Umtiti the deals may not be completed in the current transfer itself but it may stretch to the upcoming summer transfer window of 2021, at the end of the season.
Should Barca sell both Firpo and Umtiti?
