Manchester City’s Eric Garcia is set to join Ronald Koeman’s Barcelona in the summer as multiple sources have reported that the Blaugranas and Pep Guardiola’s side have failed to reach an agreement for a contract termination as previously rumored.

More from Everything Barca

The surfaced reports suggest that the Spaniard will be returning to his boyhood club in the next transfer window as the Catalans look to make it official after reaching an agreement with Garcia.

Manchester City had previously attempted to sell the defender for 5 million euros but the Catalans refused to pay when they can receive him for free in summer.

Recent rumors had also echoed the idea of Garcia attempting to terminate his contract in order to join the Spanish giants in January itself. Garcia was instead offered a fresh contract by Pep Guardiola but many believe that the contract was offered only to force Barca into making a January signing.

Unfortunately for the Premier League side, Eric is a La Masia student and his heart is set on returning to Barcelona. The 20-year-old centre-back’s contract will be coming to an end in the summer transfer window of 2021.

The youngster would be allowed to leave for free during that time and the Presidential candidates at Barca have decided against signing him in January itself.

Garcia is fantastic on the ball as his passing and movement are exquisite for a 20-year-old. He’s not the best in the air and must improve his strength, but his quality on the ball and ability to make tackles is fantastic.

He will be a massive addition to Barca given the fact that the Catalans have major centre-backs crisis with Gerard Pique aging and Samuel Umtiti suffering from reoccurring injuries.

The Catalan side have struggled defensively for many seasons and Garcia is set to be the one to help fix the issues.
