According to the Catalonian news channel, TV3, a leaked report from Barcelona sporting director, Ramon Planes, shows us that the position of Samuel Umtiti and Oscar Mingueza is under considerable threat. The same report also suggests that the Catalans should buy Eric Garcia as soon as possible due to his ridiculously low price. Garcia’s introduction could mean the end for Mingueza’s rise as well as Umtiti’s career at the Camp Nou.

In the report, which was acquired by TV3, Plane clearly mentions the need to sign Garcia. The Manchester City player has been linked with the Spanish giants since August but it seemed like Pep Guardiola was going to convince the player to stay. Recent news suggests otherwise, it has been reported that Barcelona and Garcia have already agreed upon personal terms and City would rather take as less as 3 million euros than losing him on a free deal.

While many may say that the Catalans have an abundance of center-backs at the moment, the report suggests that Ronald Koeman actually has only three defenders to work with, Clement Lenglet, Ronald Araujo, and Umtiti. The report says that Gerard Pique will be out till at least April and thus he cannot be counted on.

Planes further emphasize the need to sign the 21-year-old by saying that while Umtiti is a senior and advanced player, he has also been injured for such a long time that he is no longer reliable and could be unavailable during key matches. Mingueza, on the other hand, has been getting a lot of chances and is proving to do quite well however, the report says that the player is at the end of the day a B team player and not up to the mark.

The Sporting Director, however, spoke well about Garcia saying that he is,

"“Made at home, knows the club and the culture and available at a ridiculous price compared to other players of his profile,”Source Sport"

The report goes on to say that the player is willing to come for a very cheap price that cannot be matched elsewhere and in a market with a lack of center-backs, they should jump on the deal before someone else steals him. This is true as Arsenal were also interested in the youngster however, Garcia’s transfer would surely put a stop to Mingueza’s rise.
