Forgotten Barcelona signing remains keen on staying despite exit rumors
Due to the financial situation at Barcelona, the club could bring in only three new players this season. While Sergino Dest has become a regular starter at the club and Francisco Trincao has been given his fair share of chances, one player has been completely forgotten by Ronald Koeman and the player is hoping to be transferred to Barcelona’s B team in order to get more playing time.

22-year-old Matheus Fernandes was brought in from Brazilian club, Palmeiras for a fee of roughly 3 million pounds. The Brazilian midfielder was not going to break into the first team due to the saturated nature of the club’s midfield but he had hoped to feature in a few games through systematic rotation of the squad. This was not the case, however, and the player has made only one appearance for the Catalans in a UEFA Champions League match against Dynamo Kyiv.
He has played only for 17 minutes all season and this is definitely hampering his confidence. The player was desperate for a move away in order to get more chances but he wants to stay in the Barcelona circuit. Thus he wanted a move away to the B team which plays in the Segunda División B.
However, even this does not look possible as the second team does not need any more players and with the signing of 27-year-old Roger Riera, the club has filled in all their gaps. There is simply no more space in the team and Matheus will have to wait till the summer transfer market to find another club, maybe on a loan but a sale would be more favorable for Barcelona.
