It has finally happened, the legendary six trophies in a row record of Barcelona has been matched. The Catalans are no longer the only sextuple winning club as they must now welcome Bayern Munich into this category. The German giants have been unstoppable ever since the arrival of
Hans-Dieter “Hansi” Flick and now they have gone on to win the FIFA Club World Cup, their sixth consecutive trophy. Finally, someone has broken Pep Guardiola’s record and the Spanish mastermind has offered a friendly challenge to Flick for the “seventh” title.

Flick has changed Bayern into a winning machine, they eased their way to the domestic trophies as well as the European ones. Barcelona in fact had to face the red club at their best and they came out of the match conceding eight goals. Their impressive form continued on to the 2020-21 season as well and they won their sixth Trophy by defeating Tigres UANL via a single goal by Benjamin Pavard.
Guardiola of course had to congratulate his former team on this incredible achievement and even threw in some friendly jabs at the Champions. He challenged the 2021 Bayern Munich to a match against his 2009 Barcelona as it would decide which is the better side. In a video message sent via Twitter, the Spaniard said,
"“Big congratulations to all the Bayern family for this incredible success, to be the Club World Cup champions and especially to win six titles.”“Before you, there was another team, Barcelona… So maybe I can call Messi and company and we can play for the seventh title? Tell me when and where and we will be there!”Source Goal"
It was good to see Pep appreciating his rival and congratulating them for equalling his record. Bayern could have had a sextuplet year once before as well. They won the treble under Jupp Heynckes and won two more trophies under Guardiola but lost the DFL Supercup against Borussia Dortmund.
A friendly exhibition match could take place due to the fact that Guardiola has good relationships with both Barcelona and Bayern. However, it is unlikely to happen as there is a huge 12-year gap between the teams, and only three players are still playing from the legendary team of 2009.
