Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez has been a target for being the coach for the Catalans for quite some time now. After the sacking of Ernesto Valverde, the former number 6 was approached to be the head coach. However, he was mature enough to make a decision and reject the offer as he felt that the timing was not right. He had also stated that he did not have enough experience to be coaching such a big side so early on in his career.

More from Everything Barca

Xavi has been coaching Qatar club Al Sadd for a few years now. His football with Al Sadd has caught the world’s attention. Many performances that his team have put up have shown a huge similarity to Pep Guardiola’s tiki-taka football.

That kind of Football is not available at Camp Nou for a few years now. Blaugrana were very defensive under Valverde and since his departure, they have not been able to get the attacking football mastered like they had it under the current Manchester City coach.

However, the former Spanish international made his desire to be the coach at the Nou Camp very clear when speaking to FIFA. The former midfielder stated that everyone “sees” him as the future Barca coach. He stated that while he has immense respect for the current coach Ronald Koeman and the team, he cannot hide his desire to return to the Nou Camp one day to be head coach.

Barcelona have been missing that flair that made them special for many years now. Obviously, they are a top side and the football they play is good but nothing matches their football that they played under Pep Guardiola. Xavi on the other hand have coached the players at Al Sadd to play the tiki-taka type football brilliantly. Hence, a potential move for the club legend for a head coach is inevitable if the Blaugrana want to get their magic back.

Should Xavi return to Camp Nou next season?
