A shaky performance against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League and Cadiz in the La Liga, the following weekend, has seen the defender been absolutely disheartened.

More from Everything Barca

The fans have not taken this lightly. While it is obvious for a club’s fans to support their players during a dark time, the fans have gone on to attack the player on social media and otherwise. So much so, that the player was seen in tears after the draw with Cadiz over the weekend.

Fans had reportedly surrounded the player’s car during his exit from the stadium after the La Liga fixture with Cadiz. Many were not exactly friendly as they moved in on him in an aggressive manner. The player was then caught on phone cameras and was reportedly seen in tears.

It has not been a good week for the Frenchman as he was easily dealt with by one of the most promising youngsters in the world. Kylian Mbappe was a huge nightmare for  Lenglet and Sergino Dest in the major UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie. The attacker absolutely had the defenders done completely as he bagged a hat-trick against the Catalans.

Koeman wanted his squad to quickly recover from the loss and get back on track and secure a win against Cadiz on Sunday. However, in the final moments of the game, Lenglet awarded a penalty to the opponents. Fernandez netted the penalty in the last minute to deny Barca the much-needed three points. This was Barcelona’s opportunity to close the gap on top and move closer to Atletico Madrid who had also dropped points. However, the Catalans must hope for another opportunity to move up the table.

Clement Lenglet had a tough week in football and the fans did not trade lightly. However, the player is known to have quality and he should be able to turn this situation around and bounce back.
