Barcelona linked superstar may be on a move to Paris Saint-Germain and there is not much the club can do about it. The Catalans were linked with Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin last summer transfer window but the deal could not be materialized as the club poured all their funds into Sergino Dest. They put him off their radar for the time being and now it seems as if PSG are trying to get back into the race to sign the Spaniard.

25-year-old Bellerin was in the Barcelona youth division in his early days. He moved on to Arsenal youth side since then but has only achieved moderate success in his six years with the first team. The Gunners are low on funds and had to cut corners when they signed Thomas Partey. With low income again this season due to the pandemic and lack of fans in the stadium, the club must sell some players if they want to bring in more players next season.
This is where the right-back comes in. He has had a lot of ups and downs with the London side but currently, he has been performing quite well and he has been chosen by Mikel Arteta quite often for the team. His value is quite high right now and Arsenal are willing to sell him. Barcelona have Dest as their main right-back now but the American is without any competition and the club had to play Oscar Mingueza in his position when he was injured.
Bellerin would be the perfect backup for the ex-Ajax player and he would also get the chance to return to his boyhood club. However, Mauricio Pochettino also wants the player at his club and the Catalans cannot compete with the French giants in terms of money. Barcelona’s main card to play in this transfer would have been a swap deal with Junior Firpo, who has not proven himself to replace Jordi Alba.
Firpo would provide the Gunners an alternative for Kieran Tierney when he is injured or deserves a rest. However, should the London side want only money, then the Catalans have no chance and they will lose another one of their transfer targets. It will be even more painful as PSG are also actively trying for Lionel Messi so the French side are really being a thorn for Barcelona at the moment.
Should Barca look to sign Bellerin?
