The next Barcelona president will decide the manager’s future.

Manager Ronald Koeman gave his customary press conference ahead of Barcelona’s match against Osasuna. As usual, he answered a number of questions including if he had a preference in the upcoming elections.

This led to questions about his future as the club’s manager next season as well as Xavi Hernandez being tabbed as his replacement.

"“Rumors are a normal thing,” Koeman said. “It is interesting to put names because it causes controversy. It doesn’t bother me.“I’m concentrated on my work. It doesn’t interest nor does it bother me to hear the name of Xavi or others. A new president will come and decide. I am tired of answering these types of questions.”Source: Sport"

Koeman’s future is very much in the air despite his team coming back and getting past Sevilla to reach the Copa del Rey final.

Results in the Champions League and La Liga have not been the best and some of his tactical and in-game decisions has left much to be desired.

The Dutchman is right that the new president, whoever he may be, will make the final decision regarding his future. At least one of them, Victor Font, has remained steadfast that should he win, his manager comes next season would be Xavi.

What could save Koeman is he seems to finally be instilling a form of camaraderie in the dressing room as demonstrated after the final whistle in the Sevilla match. He also has not been shy in introducing some of the younger players like Oscar Mingueza and Ilaix Moriba.

His man-management could still use some work. The result of the Copa del Rey final may go a decent way in deciding his future as well as how much of a fight they put up to catch Atletico Madrid.

If Barcelona manage to win the final and can at least make it competitive in their race for the league title, then the chances that Koeman comes back next season increase. Some may argue he warrants a season in which the board is able to sign the players he wants to build a squad in his image.
