The Reds are struggling in the Premier League this season and their latest loss to Chelsea only made matters worse as they currently sit 7th on the league table, 22 points behind leaders Manchester City.
The match against Thomas Tuchel’s side saw Liverpool’s Egyptian superstar look disgruntled after coach Jurgen Klopp decided to substitute him in the 62nd minute. Since arriving at Anfield in 2017, Salah has never been substituted this early.
The withdrawal was moments after Klopp was seen screaming at this star player for failing to help out in the defense. The Egyptian international was seen shaking his head after Klopp decided to replace him with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and many reports now suggest that the relationship between the two might be heated.
Klopp, however, feels there are no issues with the player nor would the substitution cause any problems in the future,
"“I didn’t want to risk it, It is all fine, I make decisions that I think are right in the moment.”Source Goal via BBC Sport“I just brought on flesh legs, [Salah] looked like today he suffered a bit, he played a lot of games. I could have taken off Sadio [Mane] or Bobby [Firmino], that is all clear but at that moment it looked like Mo.”Source Goal via Sky Sports"
While the manager doesn’t believe in the player finding any issue in the matter, Salah might have a different opinion. Reports are now discussing the possibility of Liverpool not even qualifying for the Champions League for next season, which might result in many stars leaving.
Despite Liverpool’s disappointing campaign so far, Salah has been as great as ever having already scored 17 league goals this season, sitting on top of the top-scorers list for the Premier League. Thus, it is natural that the attacker wants to play the entire 90-min on every occasion.
Salah discusses Barcelona move
The 28-year-old has already discussed the possibility of leaving the Premier League giants for either Barcelona or Real Madrid. During the same discussion, Salah also revealed his disappointment in not getting the captain’s armband.
"“Honestly, I was very disappointed, I was hoping to be the captain, but it’s a coach’s decision. I accept it.”Source Dailymail"
The talks regarding his potential exit at the end of the season were further fueled after the substitution as it resulted in Salah’s agent tweeting a cryptic message as he tweets a single full stop after the incident.
It remains to be seen how Liverpool’s season ends but it will not be surprising to see Salah wanting to leave England for more competition and silverware, after winning everything possible under Jurgen Klopp.
