The reality that Barca fans must realize is that the club need to first fix their economy after revealing debt of over a billion dollars. While Laporta has been vocal during his campaign that big-name signings are still possible with him having a good relationship with agents of several players, signing Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe won’t be easy.
While the desire to acquire players of that caliber lives on, Barca do realistically have chances of securing free-agents like Sergio Aguero, David Alaba, Memphis Depay, and more. Another way the Catalans can look to strengthen their squad is by signing upcoming talent.
That’s the case of young Edmond Tapsoba of Bayern Leverkusen. The 22-year-old has recently emerged in the Bundesliga scene as an exciting prospect and Barca have a massive advantage if they are interested in signing the centre-back.
Barcelona have a massive advantage if they wish to secure him.
The Burkina Faso international is represented by none other than former Barca superstar, Deco, and the Portuguese’s relationship with Laporta could green-light the move. Tapsoba is known for his physique while also having immense speed and power. His one-on-one abilities are impressive and quality like that would greatly benefit Ronald Koeman‘s squad.
Barca recently secured former La Masia youngster from Manchester City, Eric Garcia. While Samuel Umtiti, Clement Lenglet and Gerard Pique are all moving towards the end of the careers at the Nou Camp, youngsters like Ronald Araujo and Oscar Mingueza are thriving under the Dutch boss.
The defense is certainly a position in which Barca could use some reinforcement but would have to keep the finances in mind and with Tapsoba estimated to be costing around 40 million euros, Deco’s existing could potentially lower that amount or even make it affordable in the long-run.
