With the return of Joan Laporta as president, Pep Guardiola could potentially complete a full cycle by returning to Barcelona especially if Manchester City wins the Champions League.

More from Everything Barca

ESPN Argentina believes that the Catalan coach could be tempted with the idea of returning to the Nou Camp but only if his current side lifts the only trophy that evades them, the UEFA Champions League.

Ever since Pep left Barca in 2013, he has failed to lift the European glory despite coaching giants such as Bayern Munich and Man City. During his time with Bayern, Pep won the Bundesliga title three times and the DFB-Pokal twice. The Spanish coach experienced similar domestic success with his Premier League side, winning the English championship twice, the FA cup once and the English league cup thrice.

What Pep couldn’t do, however, was win the Champions League after his time at Barcelona. Many experts and fans have criticized Pep for not being able to win the European title with Bayern and City, which is also the biggest argument against the idea that he is the best manager in the world.

Man City are set to face Borussia Dortmund in the quarter-final stage of UCL with the winner of Bayern versus Paris Saint-Germain awaiting them in the Semis. The Spaniard extend his contract with the Citizens with only one intention in mind, winning every trophy possible.

Fortunately for Pep, his squad has dominated the Premier League this season, potentially sitting more than 10 points ahead of the second-place team. This allows the men in sky blues a rare opportunity of putting their focus on winning the European glory.

Guardiola could reunite with Lionel Messi at Barcelona

ESPN’s Christian Martin believes that Pep’s men are more than capable of winning the league, and if they do, a reunion with Barca could also be on the cards.

"“If Manchester City win the Champions League, Pep Guardiola could leave England to return to FC Barcelona.”"

Newly elected president Joan Laporta has already revealed clear intention of renewing Messi’s contract while also looking to sign reinforcement to help create a competitive squad for the Argentine. City’s Sergio Aguero is also in discussion of making a move to the Nou Camp which will further help convince Leo to remain at Barca.
