Olympique Lyon’s Memphis Depay was heavily linked to Barcelona ever since the arrival of Ronald Koeman. The Dutchman had Depay as one of his major priorities. It’s not a surprise as the two have experienced each other in the Netherlands national team and produced some really attractive results. The Catalans, however, failed to land him in the summer of 2020 and also in the January transfer window of 2021 due to lack of funds.

More from Everything Barca

The Dutchman is still linked with a move to Barcelona. However, according to Marca, there is a new party that is now interested in Depay and are eager to sign him. Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are the other suitors who are willing to land the signature of the former Manchester United forward.

Depay looks attractive for both Barcelona and Liverpool

Depay would definitely have a much more positive impact on Liverpool given how their current season has been going. He would also make a good fit at the Nou Camp and be a solution to the problems that the club are facing when it comes to lacking a consistent goalscorer. After heavily flopping at United, the player moved to Lyon. He did extremely well in the Ligue 1 and it would be brilliant if he continued the same way in the La Liga for Barcelona or at Anfield for the Reds.

Even for Liverpool, he’d be top-notch addition given that the likes of Roberto Firmino have failed to deliver regularly. The Brazilian has not been consistent and really off form just like his Senegalese teammate, Sadio Mane. With the in-form new signing of Diogo Jota and a potential arrival for Memphis, the Reds can really turn it around next season.

Having said that, Depay could also do wonders at the Nou Camp especially under a coach like Koeman who has prior experience with his style of play. Only the arrival of the summer transfer window this summer will reveal the destination to which Depay wants to head to. As for Lyon, it looks like surely the forward will be parting ways with the club this summer given the amount of interest he has gather with his in-form performances so far.

Should Barca let Liverpool have Depay?
