The Neymar to Barca saga astonishingly is still going on strong, even after all these years. Footballing fans really want the Brazilian and Lionel Messi to reunite and new reports suggest that Neymar is up for a return to Barcelona. This might seem like a ridiculous statement however, the Paris Saint-Germain star has been open about his wishes to reunite with Messi and if the Argentine refuses to leave the Catalan club, Neymar will have to return to Barcelona to make his dream come true.

More from Everything Barca

According to the leading Catalan newspaper, ARA, the 29-year-old has decided to put his contract renewal for PSG on hold as he believes that Messi will not be joining the Paris side and thus he wants to join his former teammate at his former club.

A few months back, Neymar revealed that he wanted the Barca captain to join him at PSG and even offered to give up his position however, Ronald Koeman has done an excellent job in transforming the club and it seems as if Messi will be staying with his boyhood club after all.

Neymar wants to reunite with Lionel Messi at Barcelona

Former Barcelona scout, Andre Cury had in fact predicted this when he told El Litoral that Messi would not be leaving the club and instead it would be Neymar who would be joining the Catalans once again in order to reunite with Messi. He told the media,

"“Neymar will play with Messi again, not at PSG but at Barcelona,”Source Marca"

While all this seems fine and dandy, the reality of the situation is quite different. The fact of the matter is that Barcelona do not have money right now to spend on superstars. Neymar has a contract with the French giants until 2022, thus he could technically join the Catalans for free in the 2022/23 campaign at the age of 30.

But if Barca want him for next season, they will have to take out a massive loan in order to facilitate Neymar’s and Erling Haaland’s potential transfers. This loan could then lead to the complete breakdown of the club if they are unable to return it back.

Laporta has some incredible and revolutionary plans to return Camp Nou to their glory days however, he must be careful as the economy is not as stable as it used to be before the pandemic. All decisions need to be thought over carefully and one misjudgment could lead the club into bankruptcy.
