The Barcelona and Neymar saga continues and it is quite amusing that the Brazilian is yet again being linked with a move back to his old club. Ever since his departure in 2017, there have always been rumors that the former Santos youngster wanted to return to Spain as he realized that he made a mistake by moving to the Ligue 1 side. Now in 2021, Sport via El Chiringuito claims that Neymar will wait until the end of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain to move back to Barca for free.

This is an amazing twist to the tale as just a couple of months ago, the PSG superstar was trying to persuade Lionel Messi into joining him at PSG however, now the Brazilian is more likely to end up at Barcelona. Neymar had publicly stated that he would love to play with his former teammate at PSG but recent developments at the Catalan club made the winger think that Messi will not be leaving the club after all.
This was a big disappointment for the PSG superstar who was willing to even give up his own position in order to accommodate Messi into the French side. It really seems like the PSG star has made up his mind to play with the six-time Ballon d’Or winner once again, by hook or by crook.
Neymar willing to join Barcelona for free
According to Catalan news source, ARA, Neymar’s representatives have already had a talk with the new president, Joan Laporta, about a possible Neymar and Messi reunion.
While this is quite a pleasant surprise for Barcelona fans, they should not get too excited as they currently do not own the money required to purchase the Brazilian. This is why the Brazilian according to Chiringuito is willing to wait until 2022 when his contract runs out. Then he would be able to join them for free and if Laporta is able to sign Erling Haaland as well, another deadly trio of Neymar, Messi, and Haaland could emerge.
Should Barca consider a free transfer for Neymar in 2022?
