Barcelona want the player to get playing time at a higher level.

The future of Konrad de la Fuente may be away from Barcelona as the Catalan side are set to study offers should one be made for the young American winger.

According to ESPN, clubs in Spain and Germany are interested in Konrad and Barca would not be opposed to a move.

Konrad’s contract ends in 2022 but Barcelona have the option to exercise a clause that would trigger a two-year extension.

The club believe Konrad has a high ceiling but his path towards the first team is blocked. Ousmane Dembélé, Antoine Griezmann, Ansu Fati, Francisco Trincao and Barça B teammate Alex Collado are all ahead of him in the depth chart.

Ideally, the Catalan side would like to sell him and include a buy-back option. This would allow them to get a transfer fee and also give them a possibility to bring him back should he continue to progress and a spot becomes available.

From those who follow Barça B closely, he does appear to be an important piece in Garcia Pimienta’s side but he hasn’t improved as much as some people expected.

At 19, Konrad still has a lot of time left to grow. Another option could be staying at Barça B should they earn promotion to Spain’s Segunda Division.

He is not going to be short of suitors if Barca do decide they’d rather prefer to sell him. He was close to joining Hertha Berlin last season before he ultimately decided to stay.

While he’s not featured regularly in the league, he was given his Champions League debut by Ronald Koeman and has regularly taken part in training sessions. The Spanish giants feel he is ready to take the next step and is too good to stay another season in the third division.
