The Catalans have had a major boost recently as the likes of Gerard Pique and Sergi Roberto have returned to the side from injuries. However, the club are still without some important and interesting players such as Ansu Fati and Philippe Coutinho. Not that Coutinho was known to be a major part of Ronald Koeman’s plans for the club in the first place anyway.
The last time these two sides played against each other, Barcelona ended up losing the game. Hence, the coach has taken the opportunity in the press conference to send a very important message to his players.
Ronald Koeman motivates his Barcelona squad
He has advised his players not to think of the occasion too much, rather focus on themselves and their individual performances on the field. He has advised them to not let the occasion get to them, rather than okay the game like they play every other game. Not provide the fixture any special treatment as an overwhelming mentality may end up in defeat. However, it cannot be denied that the fixture is pretty huge, especially because of what the table looks like.
According to Sport, the Dutchman is confident and has stated that the team have improved from the last Clasico defeat. In no way he stated that his team was bad in the previous fixture, however, he did make some comments on the VAR, how it proved to be a disadvantage for them. He is pretty confident about his team and will be going into the tie with a positive mentality.
The fixture should be a nail-biting one as a lot is on the line for both teams.
