Eric Garcia has been adamant about returning to Camp Nou despite the possibility of a successful future at the Etihad Stadium. The Catalans have returned the same interest in Garcia but have been struggling to bring him in due to their financial problems.
While those financial problems still exist, the Barca board are keen on signing a new defender, and the former La Masia prospect checks all the boxes. Many reports have revealed that there is already an agreement between the two sides but the Catalan giants may not be able to keep their promise.
Barcelona struggle to meet promises agreed upon with Eric Garcia
Due to the existing financial issues, the amount of wages Garcia was promised when he agreed on personal terms with Barca, will be reportedly halved. The Manchester City man will be receiving half of what he made at the English club.
The club is pushing to sign multiple players this summer and the Spaniard is not a crucial signing but would definitely do everything to secure him in the summer. It is believed that the defender will not be causing any problems with the wages since he is left with no option after repeatedly declining City’s offers.
Having said that, Barca have probably asked Garcia to accept a wage cut until the club finances recover, at which point he will be paid fully. The youngster will make a perfect fit over at La Liga. He is not exactly the best at physical battles but his passing and vision are very good. Trained under Guardiola, he is surely an improved footballer who will come in extremely handy for the team’s quest to improve next season.
The 20-year-old does not seem to have a problem and according to reports from Marca, he is still very keen on moving to the Nou Camp. A deal between the two parties will surely be completed in the upcoming summer transfer window and Garcia will be a Barcelona player.
