The French international had a mixed career with the Catalan side but it was mostly disappointing. However, his current season has been better and he has been showing glimpses of his true potential. The English side are hoping to replace Sadio Mane with the Barca winger and the sale in all honesty could benefit both the clubs.
The 23-year-old winger arrived from Borussia Dortmund for a staggering fee of 105 million euros which could eventually go up to 135 million euros due to add-ons. It is safe to say that the player has massively underperformed through most of his time with the Catalans and has in no way proved to be a player worth over 100 million euros. He spent most of his time on the bench or injured prior to this season and he was not able to live up to expectations on the field either.
Liverpool eye Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele
This season, however, he has transformed under the guidance of Ronald Koeman and is actually showing his true potential that he did back in Dortmund. His performance has not gone unnoticed and Jurgen Klopp believes that he might be a good fit in Liverpool especially after Mane’s below-average season. The 29-year-old Senegalese had one of his worst seasons with the English giants and the club is hoping to sell him soon and replace him with a younger counterpart.
This is where Dembele comes in. Klopp thinks that he would be the perfect replacement for Sane according to Fichajes.net and the sale of the player could help Barcelona recover some of the money lost during the reign of Josep Maria Bartomeu. However, his latest performances have given Koeman some faith as well and the Blaugranas are trying to extend his current contract which runs till 2022.
Whether he leaves the club or he stays, it is a win-win for Barcelona. Should he leave, the club will at least make 100 million euros through the transfer but should he decide to stay, that is also not a problem as he is a talented player and is yet to hit his prime. However, we must wait and see how things develop before speculating into the situation any further.
Should Barca let Liverpool secure Dembele?
