Déjà vu for FC Barcelona as PSG becomes desperate to hijack Georginio Wijnaldum with a much more lucrative deal. It’s all up to Gini’s preference now.

More from Everything Barca

Netherlands international midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has been linked heavily to join the Blaugrana after the Euros. But Paris Saint-Germain has now stirred the stillness with a remunerative deal that oughts to make Gini think twice before signing with the Culers.

The 30-year-old will be departing from Anfield for free after joining the club in 2016. A handful of big clubs have collectively shown interest in the midfielder while Gini is preparing for the European Championships with the Netherlands. Meanwhile, his agents had met with Barcelona president Joan Laporta twice last week to discuss a deal of three years at Camp Nou.

PSG’ ploy to hijack Barcelona target Georginio Wijnaldum

Sources have confirmed that PSG has made a significantly larger offer to lure away Wijnaldum from the Barcelonistes. The midfielder is also said to be “leaning” towards a move to Paris currently, while Barca is said to have “expressed doubts” over landing Wijnaldum. There is to be a magnificent tug of war between the two clubs for Gini over this summer.

Interestingly enough, Barça still has Ronald Koeman at the wheel, who has been a former coach of the Netherlands national team, and due to that, he enjoys a great relationship with the players. For that reason, Barcelona has remained in talks with Memphis Depay, who is tipped to join the Culers after the Euros. The Lyon forward is also out of contract at the end of the month and will be joining the club for free.

Wijnaldum must now decide and choose a road. One of which leads to uniting with his fellow Dutchmen in one of the most prestigious clubs in the world, which also has, arguably, the best player of this century, and another road leads to more financial security with a star-studded squad.
