After a topsy turvy first season under new boss, Ronald Koeman, we can safely say that the 2020/21 season was a relative success. A major trophy in the first year of the transitional phase cannot be looked down upon and Barcelona could have easily picked up two trophies had it not been for the shock defeat against Athletic Bilbao in the finals of the Supercopa de Espana.

More from Everything Barca

The season itself saw Barcelona climb tremendous heights however, there were many low points as well. The manager himself was put into question a lot of times regarding his tactics and the performance of the team. On top of that, every Barcelona fan was anxiously waiting for a response from Lionel Messi regarding his future with the club.

We saw the likes of Pedri, Ronald Araujo, Oscar Mingueza, Ansu Fati, and Ilaix Moriba step up on the big stages to replace the older generation of players. New transfers such as Sergino Dest, Francisco Trincão, and Matheus Fernandes also had mixed first seasons with the club. Many players had a huge impact on the club’s season while some failed to make any impact whatsoever.

However, this is the beauty of the game, the most unexpected player can become the most important player while players who are expected to perform week in and week out could have a bad season or could get injured, giving a chance to the youngsters. Barcelona had a memorable season with many ups and downs and a lot of important moments.

Today we will take a look back at this rollercoaster ride of a season and give awards to the best players and the best moments of the 2020/21 season.
