Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Leon Goretzka from Bayern Munich, according to Sport1. The midfielder is an absolute gem when it comes to diverse roles played by a player in midfield and can be a huge addition to this Barcelona squad. On top of that, with the likes of Bernardo Silva, Jose Gaya, and many more being linked to the Nou Camp, this could just be the beginning of a new Barcelona era.

More from Everything Barca

Leon Goretzka is currently 26 years old and he has many prime years left as a footballer. This is nothing but a perfect time to snap up such a wonderful talent. He’s one of the best box-to-box midfielders in the world including the likes of Manchester City‘s Ilkay Gundogan and Barca’s Frenkie De Jong.

He’s brilliant when it comes to passing the ball and off the ball movement. The 26-year-old is great when it comes to defending and stopping counterattacks too. He also recently showed his ability to score goals when needed when he scored that crucial equalizer to save Germany in Euros. He’s a fantastic footballer and he would be a huge presence in the Catalan midfield.

While his contract expired in a year, the former Schalke man reportedly wants to stay put at Bayern Munich and continue to be successful there. Reports from Sports1 state that while multiple clubs including Barcelona are interested in him, he is interested in staying, and the German club are working on his future. While there are no solid rumors about a new contract for Goretzka, the player definitely loves Bayern Munich and wants to continue to play for the German Champions.

Barcelona show interest in Leon Goretzka

The Catalans, however, look to be heavily interested in the midfielder. Reports also state that Real Madrid are also interested in landing the Bayern Munich footballer. The German Champions are definitely going to make new signings in the summer thus competition will arrive for Leon. Hence, if he does end up moving to La Liga, he will have a guaranteed starting lineup position for both Barca and Real. At 26, a player wants to be a regular starter, another reason why Barca target Bernardo Silva is considering leaving Manchester City.

Ronald Koeman would absolutely love to have the German midfield general on board. The player is an absolute gem and he would be a massive addition to this current Barca squad who are looking to get back to business.
