With the 2020/21 season behind us and both the Euros and Copa America finally ending, we can take a look at the new power rankings for the 2021 Ballon d’Or and see if Lionel Messi is now the favorite. Then, on the other hand, players like Lionel Messi, Jorginho, and Cristiano Ronaldo managed to keep their amazing form and had amazing tournaments.

The results during these two major tournaments will have a deep impact on the final rankings in the Ballon d’Or awards, a ceremony which everyone will welcome back with open arms after a year of hiatus. The prestigious ceremony was not held last year due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the just winner Robert Lewandowski was left empty-handed.

This year, the battle will be more close than ever as several players are in for the first spot but only one can win the award. Messi winning the award would help him increase the gap between himself and Ronaldo however, there are others who are hoping to win their first-ever Ballon d’Or.
