Sergio Aguero ended his long and illustrious career with Manchester City last season in order to join Barcelona in the next season. The Catalans were also looking for a world-class striker after letting Luis Suarez move to Atletico Madrid, and Aguero ticked all the boxes. He was experienced, talented, and above all free, he was the perfect fit for the Blaugrana, and he would also get to fulfill his dreams of playing with Lionel Messi at club level. However, that dream came crashing down after Joan Laporta announced that Messi would no longer continue at Barcelona, and now it seems that even Aguero may be on his way out.

More from Everything Barca

The 33-year-old striker from Argentina has been with Messi since the very beginning. They have been the best of friends since they met in the national team’s youth squad, and they have maintained their friendship throughout. A big part of Aguero joining the Catalans was due to Messi. The duo have played countless international tournaments together; however, they never played together at the club level. This was their chance to finally play in the same club together however, the sad news of Messi leaving changed everything.

It was announced yesterday that Barcelona could not financially afford Messi, even though a contract had been agreed upon. The contract was ready and Messi was willing to take a huge wage cut in order to continue; however, La Liga reviewed the contract and claimed that it was breaking the regulations and thus, Messi is now being forced to look at other clubs. This is a huge loss for the club, and for Aguero as well. The striker left City and took a huge pay cut in order to join the Catalans; however, Messi was the main reason why he joined the Blaugrana.

Sergio Aguero wants Barcelona exit

Without Messi, Aguero has no reason to stay at the club, and according to reports from Forbes, the Argentine is already looking to leave the club. Reports suggest that Aguero has asked his lawyers to look into the contract in order to find a way to leave the club. This may not be true at all, but several reports suggest that this is the case. Should Aguero leave the club, it will be a huge loss for the Catalans, as they really need a striker. Plus it will also affect their morale, as this would mean that other players might also leave the club following Messi and Aguero.

The situation is not very tidy at the moment, and we are still left in the dark as to what exactly is going on. However, in my opinion, it will be extremely unprofessional for Aguero to leave the club just because of Messi. He signed a contract last month, and he should honor that contract even if his best friend will not play alongside him next season.
