Goal had reported earlier that the Catalan giants had already tried to secure Felix on loan with the transfer deadline approaches. While the deal was approached by his agent Jorge Mendes, Atleti were quick to dismiss any negotiations as they intend to keep their superstar for the future.
While the previous approach didn’t impress Atletico, ESPN reports that Barca’s new offer which includes Antoine Griezmann may do the trick. Sources close to the French striker claim that a return to Wanda Metropolitano is not impossible while others believe that any deals on transfer deadline are always extremely complicated and difficult to execute.
Barcelona discuss another swap deal with Atletico Madrid
A swap deal between Barca and Atleti isn’t anything new with both parties already discussing a possible swap between Griezmann and Saul Niguez earlier this summer. While those talks broke down due to the club’s having different valuations of the two players involved, a Griezmann and Felix could be easier.
The Catalans are keen on adding to their attack after losing Lionel Messi to Paris Saint-Germain, and while the arrival of Memphis Depay has shown tremendous potential, the president firmly believes in adding a proper no. 9 for the sporting project.
Former Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero was brought as a possible short-term fix for the problem, but his long-term injury has made signing a striker the utmost priority.
