Barcelona have had a decent start to their ongoing season as they have already picked up seven points from their first three games and are sitting fourth in the league table. However, things look stiff for Ronald Koeman‘s side as they have bid farewell to their captain Lionel Messi and are now badly in need of a revamp upfront.

Talking about revamps, the club has gone on to add players like Memphis Depay, Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia this summer. Also, Joan Laporta has made it evident that he will be pursuing big targets in the future despite the financial crisis at the club.

More from Everything Barca

As per the latest club updates, defender Gerard Pique has recently confirmed that he is ready to retire at Camp Nou. This latest insight was revealed in a satirical program named “La Sotana” where the Spaniard talked about his future at the club. When asked about retirement, the player responded by saying :

"This could be the last season, yes. I go year after year, so I cannot guarantee that I will be there next season. The day I feel that I can’t help Barca anymore, I will retire."

Pique’s words were more or less an indicator that he wants to end his career at Camp Nou. The veteran defender has won every major trophy with the club and therefore it will be fair to assume that he would like to hang up his boots at Barcelona.

Barcelona would be glad to see Gerard Pique retire at the club and here’s why…

The Spaniard has been seen it all during his time in Spain. At Barca, he has established himself as a legendary figure in the club’s backline and for years, has acted like a true leader for the side.

Given the fact that the 34-year-old is in the twilight of his career, he will most likely spend his final days with the Blaugrana outfit. So for now, it’s up to the Catalan side to decide how they would give a proper farewell to their superstar centre-back.

Many Barca fans were hoping to see Messi retire at Barcelona but for now, it seems that their maestro may end his career at the Parc Des Princes and hence is unlikely to return to his former club. Moving on to other club legends, Gerard Pique, too, deserves to retire with full dignity and respect at Camp Nou.
