Ronald Koeman was sacked from Barcelona after the loss against Rayo Vallecano, almost immediately after that announcement, Xavi Hernandez became the most trending name in world football. This is because Hernandez was always meant to be the Barca coach and now was his chance to finally accept the offer. Reports from journalists all over the globe were that Xavi had already talked with the club and was ready to leave his current club for Barcelona. All the talks suggested that the Xavi to Barca deal was already done and it was just a matter of time before the former legend would be announced.

However, a new statement from his current club, Al Sadd confirmed that the Qatari club wants to keep Xavi until his contract expires. The club said that they are not happy with the recent rumors and transfer talk surrounding their house at the moment. This obviously made a lot of Barcelona fans nervous since Xavi seemed like the perfect coach however, according to the club’s vice president, Rafael Yuste, the Catalans are not stuck on just one manager, they have a lot of alternatives ready. He said in an interview at the Camp Nou,

"“The technical secretariat has been working for a few days to find the best solution. There are several options and Xavi is one of them,”“Putting timings on us would only add more pressure and could complicate the negotiations.”Source Barca Blaugranes"

While this is true, the only manager who seems sensible for Barca at the moment has to be Xavi. Antonio Conte is another popular choice however, he is a manager who needs funds to rebuild the team. Xavi on the other hand was a La Masia academy graduate and he knows how to deal with young players. Plus, his managerial style and formation line up with the current Barcelona squad, which is why he is the perfect man for the job.
