The winter transfer season is almost upon us and Barcelona is looking to get a few new players for their team. The new coach, Xavi Hernandez, is obviously not satisfied with the current roster and he is looking to bring in some player who he thinks will be able to make a difference in the team. Currently, the former legendary player is looking to bring in new wingers to the club. The Catalans have been linked with Manchester City‘s Ferran Torres for a few weeks now and the player has already announced that he is willing to move to Camp Nou.

While City is willing to let go of the youngster, they are not willing to let him go for a cheap price. One of the reasons why he is so sought after is because of his versatility. He has the ability to play on both the wings which would be extremely important for the Catalans since both their main wingers, Ousmane Dembele and Ansu Fati are somewhat injury-prone. On top of that, the Spaniard is only 21 years old and has a bright future ahead of him but City is not the right club for him and he wants more playtime, which is why is looking forward to playing under Xavi soon.

While City and Barca do have a good relationship, the Manchester side will still be asking for an amount that is significantly more than what the Blaugrana are willing to pay. According to Mundo Deportivo, City values their player at around 60 million euros which is 15 million euros more than what Barca can afford. Financially, the former Spanish kings are not in a very good place and they cannot spend 60 million euros on a single player at the moment. Should the negotiations not go their way, Xavi has lined up an alternative from Chelsea who could be a bit cheaper but a bit older as well. Hakim Ziyech is their second choice at the moment however, Torres will be the one they will desperately try to sign.

Should Barca spend so much on Ferran Torres?
