Barcelona could sign Bayern Munich midfielder for free

Once the talk of the town, now barely mentioned in the news, Bayern Munich star, Corentin Tolisso, could be on his way out of the German side and Barcelona could be his new home soon. The 27-year-old central midfielder is currently in the last few months of his contract with Bayern and could let it run out in order to move away from the club. He is in his prime at the moment and he would like to end his career on a high note rather than remain as a secondary player. Rumour has it that he is searching for a move away from the club and Barca will be more than happy to take such a talented individual on a free transfer.

The French international was signed by Bayern, four seasons ago, when he was performing regularly for Olympique Lyon. He was playing in a more attacking role for the Ligue 1 side however, when he made the transition to the Bundesliga, he was given a more defensive or central role. His assists and goals per season fell, however, he was always involved in the game and the deeper role gave his overall playing style more versatility and changed his dynamic. Things were looking good after his first season however, he became extremely injury prone and spent the rest of the three seasons mostly injured and off the pitch.

He is still a great player and Julian Nagelsmann even started him in some extremely important games in the Bundesliga and in the UEFA Champions League however, he once again succumbed to his injuries and now players such as Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka and Marcel Sabitzer have overtaken him in the pecking list. Thus, not willing to spend his days on the bench, Tolisso is now looking for a way out of the club.

According to El Nacional, Xavi Hernandez is interested in the player and players running out of contracts are exactly the kind of people who can help the club out a lot. Tolisso is a big risk for Barca as well since he is injury-prone and could just end up being another Philippe Coutinho however, with rivals, Real Madrid, also on the player’s tail, the Catalans cannot let this deal slip out of their hands easily. When fit Tolisso is a great player and will fit into Barca’s system seamlessly however, there is always that shadow of a doubt which can turn Barcelona off from the deal.
