Barcelona legend, Dani Alves, was one of the best-known right-backs in his prime. He was considered the best in his field and he revolutionized the way people looked at full-backs in general. His attacking mentality and willingness to help out the attack earned him a staggering 101 assists at Barca. He is the most decorated footballer in the world and not even the likes of Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo can match him when it comes to trophies won. Thus, fans were extremely pleased when he announced his return to the club however, now the player has revealed that he would not have returned to the club if the former President was still running Barca.

The 38-year-old returned to the club where he made history, in order to help the club rebuild itself from the ground up. The Catalan side gave a lot to Alves and now he wants to help the club when it is going through a hard time. However, the reunion of the two might not have happened if former president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, was still running the club.

In an interview with Alkass Sports Channels, the legend said,

"“I would not have accepted an offer from him”“I left when he was president and there was no point in working with him again.”Source Marca"

While he did not say anything particularly bad about the former president, he did mention that he was extremely unhappy with Messi’s departure and he probably hold Bartomeu responsible for the whole situation. The former president was responsible for a lot of bad decisions and ultimately left the club with a fragmented squad and a huge debt.

It will be a tough journey back to the top for the Catalan Kings however, Alves is sure that with Joan Laporta’s leadership, they can overcome all odds and reach their end goal soon.
