Barcelona has found a good module through which they can enjoy a decent transfer window in the Summer. Right now, the Catalans did spend almost 60 million euros for a single player; however, they cannot afford to keep buying players with such extravagant price tags. The money that the club used to bring in Ferran Torres is actually supposed to go towards the new stadium; however, president, Joan Laporta, thought this would be a better investment. Barcelona has now understood that they must bring in players who are on the last leg of their contract, as this would mean that the Catalans would not have to pay any transfer fee.

While finding players in such a position is not easy, Barca has already managed to sign the likes of Memphis Depay, Sergio Aguero, and Eric Garcia for free, at the start of the current season. For the next season the club has identified the positions they would like to fill up, that being the centre-back position and the right-back position. The club has a lot of centre-backs at the moment however, only Ronald Araujo is performing and while they do have a couple of players on the right as well, Dani Alves is quite old and Sergino Dest has almost no impact.

Thus, the perfect duo for the Catalans would be Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta. The pair from Chelsea have already shown their proper understanding of the game and Azpilicute was even in the 30 man Ballon d’Or shortlist. They are going to enter the last six months of their contracts, which means that they can start negotiating with other clubs. A centre-back like Christensen would solidify the Barca defense a lot and he has just entered his prime which is more good news for the club. Azpilicueta, while being quite old now, remains as one of the top defenders in the Premier League and he would be a great addition to the team, although not a permanent replacement for Dest.
