Barcelona was supposed to sell a few of their main players in the upcoming winter or summer transfer windows however, it seems like a lot of the players who were on the transfer list have now decided to stay and fight for their place at the club. Players such as Sergino Dest, Samuel Umtiti, and even Marc-Andre ter Stegen were supposed to be sold off in order to generate funds for new transfers. However, now both Umtiti and Dest wants to stay on at the club and maybe even renegotiate their contracts in order to help out the club.

Dest was one of the few players that Ronald Koeman was allowed to bring in and even though he was not as good as he was back in Ajax, Dest was a respectable youngster who had a lot of potential in him. He was supposed to do what Jordi Alba did on the left side of the pitch. Dest had it all, great skills, great pace and the natural talent to carry the ball forward into the attack. His advanced playing style was exactly what the Catalans needed. However, his performances under the new coach, Xavi Hernandez, started to falter and soon he would find himself out of favor.

Dest is currently only being used out of compulsion and Xavi even had to use him in the right-wing a couple of times, due to the number of injuries that Barcelona has to deal with. However, if given a choice, Xavi would probably not start the youngster at this moment since he has not shown much impact on the pitch. Dest was linked with Bayern Munich earlier this month, but now according to FootballEspana, he is trying to protect his place at the club and is willing to fight for a place at Barcelona.
