Barcelona have two major problems with their squad at the moment, the lack of experienced players and the lack of young players in certain positions. A team needs to have a few players who are in their prime and are still experienced enough to lead the team; however, the way the Barca are setting up these days, it is entirely made out of youngsters with a few old players. These players such as Dani Alves, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquests, and Gerard Pique are not young enough to be fighting week in and week out. They are aged and need to be rested however, Barca do not have the resources required to give these players rest.

The main problem is that the new talents that they do have are not good enough to play for the club. In the case of the right-back position, Alves is Xavi Hernandez’s main choice. Although the club has a youngster, Sergino Dest, the manager prefers to play the 38-year-old because Dest has not impressed the manager. On the other side of the pitch, on the left-hand side, Jordi Alba reigns supreme and players like Alejandro Balde are too young to be a starter.

Barcelona look to bring a left-back on loan

Alba was forced to make a return to the main team after Ronald Koeman failed to get desirable results out of Junior Firpo. The player has now been sold to Leeds United and the Catalans only have Balde to fill in for Alba. Balde is only 18 years old and is not experienced enough to play in the first team thus, it is vital that the Catalans bring in a new player who can fill in Alba’s boots. While a permanent deal would be the best option, a loan deal would also do great and here are five left-backs whom Barcelona could bring in on loan.
