Barcelona manager, Xavi Hernadez, has decided that he will need some reinforcement in the summer if he is going to do much with the team. The team right now is in the 5th position however, they are not fighting for any domestic trophies and the only competition they can still win is the Europa League. The main problem that the Catalans have faced this season is the lack of a consistent goal scorer. Lionel Messi contributed 30 league goals last season however, there is no one like that in the team anymore and now more than ever it is clear that Barca needs a striker.
The Catalans brought in Memphis Depay to be their main striker, however, the problem with him is that he is not a true number nine and thus, he has not been the most reliable player in front of the goal. Barca tried to bring in Alvaro Morata however, even that move seems to have failed since Atletico Madrid is asking for at least 40 million euros and not accepting a loan deal. Their next target is Edinson Cavani or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Arsenal player could be a temporary solution since he is a prolific goalscorer but he is also 32 years old.
Barcelona keen on signing Aubameyang on loan
The player has fallen out of favor at Arsenal and Mikel Arteta seems to have no use for the Gabon player. Juve were also interested in the former Borussia Dortmund star but since they have already signed Dusan Vahovic, Barca remains the only one in the race for Aubameyang. The main problem, however, will be the wage that the player currently receives. He is one of the highest earners in the Premier League, earning around 300,000 euros a week. Barca will never be able to afford that and it will be tough to negotiate a contract with him. As things stand, Cavani would be a much better choice for the team since Aubameyang has very high demands and his attitude at Arsenal has not been the most welcoming either.
Should Barca sign Aubameyang?
