Barcelona have made it very clear that they are looking for a new centre-back. They have been linked with the likes of Andreas Christensen and Mathjis de Ligt for months now however, those two options are becoming ever so difficult for them to secure. While the Juventus superstar is a longshot, many thought that Christensen would be an easier target. The Chelsea man is reaching the end of his contract and the Blues have done nothing to secure his future with the club. However, now it seems as if Bayern Munich is also interested in the same player which makes things much more complicated for Barca.

Barcelona monitoring Manchester United outcast

On one hand, they could fight Bayern by offering Christensen better terms but on the other hand, they have to think about other transfers as well. Their main goal for the next transfer window is none other than Erling Haaland however, for that to happen, they will have to save a lot of money, as well as let some players go in order to lower their total player wages. Thus, fighting for the Danish centre-back does not make sense and they have identified their next target, Manchester United outcast, Eric Bailly. The 27-year old’s contract expires in 2024 but with United not using him much, they could be inclined to sell him.

The Red Devils defender has only made seven appearances this season and it is more than obvious that the English side prefers other players over him. He is no longer the go-to player like he was when he first moved to United from Villarreal. He is now just wasting his prime years on the bench and a move to Barca would help his career immensely. The Catalans however, should not invest too much into the player as he is no longer a top-class player however, he has a lot of experience and he also has a lot of experience in La Liga. This is a gamble Barca should take only in the price is right or else they should avoid it.
