Andreas Christensen to Barcelona is almost all done and only the announcement needs to be made at this point. The Chelsea man who was not satisfied with the contract terms being offered to him by his current club has decided to move his career elsewhere and start a new chapter in his life. Although the disagreement is between the player and the club, Christensen’s relationship with his manager has not soured. In fact, the player has been very respectful about Thomas Tuchel and the German coach recently addressed the Barca rumors as well, saying that the player would thrive at Chelsea if he decides to stay.

While the deal is almost done, there is always that five percent chance that the player decides to change his mind. Tuchel is banking on that five percent chance and he even said that although negotiations have not been going their way, Christensen is a very important player for the club and that he could be influential for the team in the next season. Speaking about a possible exit to Barca he had this to say,

"“If things like this happen then he’s still our player and we will do what’s best for us. He’s a Chelsea player. He knows we appreciate him a lot. It’s a crucial point of his Chelsea career. It’s a crucial point in the perfect age in the perfect moment, the system that we play, the guys that play by his side…considering all these circumstances for me it’s the decisive moment for him to step up and be a huge Chelsea player for the next years.“If he decides otherwise I will not take it personally. It’s in the end not important whether I understand it or not, I will treat him as my player until the very last day if he behaves how he behaves here.”Source Metro"

While there might have been a little chance that the player stayed with the Blues past this season, the news about Chelsea being sanctioned away from Roman Abramovich has destroyed that. The Blues can now no longer sign new players, contracts or sell their merchandise. Right now they are a frozen asset and thus they cannot even offer the Danish player a new contract even if they want to. Thus, as of now, the defender is as good as Barca player.
