Barcelona will be facing their arch-rivals, Real Madrid tonight and this will be their last chance to get any closer to the title. The men white are currently in the first position and 15 points clear of Barca. However, if the Catalans can win the game against Madrid and then also win their game in hand, they will go within nine points from the first team and they will also secure the second position on the table. The Catalans have been beaten by Los Blancos for the past four times in the league and if they lose again, then the Madrid side will complete a double over them in two consecutive years.

The Madrid side is looking quite strong and their match against Paris Saint-Germain shows us that they will not go down without a fight. Barca’s last match against Real was an enthraling 3-2 defeat in the Supercopa de Espana. Although the Blaugrana did lose in that match, it was an extremely tight game and they pushed Los Blancos all the way to extra-time before finally succumbing to the barrage of attacks. The main problem in that match was the speed of Vinicius Jr. and the fact that Dani Alves just could not keep up with it.

The subtleties of Xavi’s understanding of football is coming to the surface through players such as Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Ferran Torres, etc. The team looks very good at the moment and it will not be like their last meeting where RMA could open up their defence time and time again.
