Barcelona: Alba talks about Messi’s departure and hopes that he returns

Barcelona has a lot of youngsters playing for the main team at the moment. The likes of Pedri, Ronald Araujo, Ansu Fati have burst onto the main scene and a revolutionary change is about to happen at Barca. At this time of change, we must remember the legends who laid down such a strong foundation for the club and some of those legends are still playing for the club. Players like Jordi Alba, Dani Alves, Gerard Pique and Sergio Busquets have all played during the golden era of Barca and now they are witnessing a new era of the Blaugrana.

Alba is one of the players who has given his entire career to Barca and he is a Cule through and through. He and Alves revolutionized the full-back positions and his plays alongside Messi were just phenomenal to watch. Thus, when it was revealed that the Argentine would no longer be at Barca, Alba was truly shocked. He said in an interview with El Larguero,

"“It wasn’t easy for him, his teammates or the club, but football is like that. It’s hard to see him with another shirt, but he’s still the best in the world.“He’s got a lot of football left and I’m sure next year he’ll be much better.”_Source Goal via El Larguero"

When asked about what he thought about the player’s possible return to Barca, he did not say that he was hopeful but he did welcome the idea. He said,

"“Messi is the player with whom I’ve understood the best and it would be nice if he came back. I suffered a lot after his departure as he was a good friend.”_Source Goal via El Larguero"

Players like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are generational players. They are extremely rare and their impact on the game will even be felt long after they are gone. Messi could come back to Barca but fans should not be hopeful. Instead of reminiscing about the past, the fans should embrace the future because that is what Messi would want us to do.
