For a few weeks now, Barcelona was back in the transfer market spotlight due to one man, Lionel Messi. While yes, the Catalans are planning to go for a lot of players in the Summer, the one transfer news that grabbed everyone’s attention was the Messi to Barca news. Not only were the Catalan fans ecstatic to hear this news, but the Paris Saint-Germain fans were also tensed. Yes, Messi has not been in his best form but the Paris fans would not like to lose him after just one season. However, any ideas of the legend coming back to Barca has been dismissed by the Catalan president as they are ready to embark on their new journey.

Barcelona confirms that they will not be in the race to sign Messi

According to several reports, the former Catalan superstar was quite unhappy at PSG due to the environment and thus he could not fit into the team well. He was also underperforming a lot and thus the player was looking for a way back to Barcelona. These reports were then exposed to be not true but fans still wanted the player back at the club. In a recent interview with RAC1, Joan Laporta said,

"“There’s no conversation with Leo Messi over his potential comeback to Barça. The reality is that we’re not considering this possibility. Leo is Leo, he’s the best – but this kind of deal is not part of our plans.”_Mirror via RAC1"

However, the president did say that the Blaugrana will always be Messi’s home and that he even invited Messi to the inauguration of the new Camp Nou. This shows us that the Argentine will forever remain in Barca’s history however, he will most likely not be back at the club next season. The player’s contract runs till 2023 and after that, there could be a possibility of bringing him back to the Catalan club but he might choose to end his career with his boyhood club instead.
