It seems like Barcelona is planning on picking up the whole Chelsea backline. Earlier it was announced that Andreas Christensen has agreed to join Barca at the end of the season however, the Catalans were not satisfied just yet and thus they decided to go for Cesar Azpilicueta as well. The Blue’s captain is also running out of a contract and although the Catalans need a younger right-back, they are planning on signing Azpilicueta as a temporary fix. This was a good business plan on their part, as they would be receiving two top players for zero transfer fee.

However, that was not enough either and now it seems like the Blaugrana are going for Chelsea’s main centre-back as well. Antonio Rudiger, the fallen hero, who has risen to the top now, will be out of a contract by the end of July. While the player has been negotiating with his current team, his wage demands are not being fulfilled by the club. Now with the government sanctions placed on the club, Rudiger is maybe looking for a way out. Barca has always been interested in the player and it seems like Rudiger’s agent has been talking to the Catalan club.

The Blaugrana had the chance to sign Rudiger last season when he was not being played by Frank Lampard however, they did not want to take a chance on a benched Premier League player. Since then, the German has become one of the best defenders in the world and his impeccable defending in the UCL finals won Chelsea the game. His salary demand will be quite high however, he will be ready to take a lower wage if it means playing for Barca. According to reports, even Real Madrid was interested in the player however, after witnessing the Catalans destroy the Madristas 4-0, the German defender asked his agent to contact Barcelona.
