Barcelona wants Ousmane Dembele to choose his own future

With less than a hundred days left for Ousmane Dembele at Barcelona, the club is getting a bit restless since they definitely do not want to lose such an important player for free. The club and the player are on better terms now after his recent resurrection in form and thus, there were reports that the club was ready to renegotiate with the player. The first negotiation fell apart in January although Dembele was close to signing the new contract. The player seemed okay with the contract terms however, in a statement by his agent, it was revealed that the player was not happy with the wages being offered and thus he did not sign the contract.

The player did not show any disdain for the contract before his agent got involved, however, and that gives us an implication that maybe his agent is the one who disapproves of the wages. Maybe, the player is ready to play for the club even with the reduced wages but his agent is telling him otherwise. The problem is that there has been no communication with the player since then. The club tried to sell him but he refused and after January, it has been silent from both ends.

Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, the Blaugrana has sent a message to Dembele, saying that he must choose his own future and leave his agent’s wishes out of the way. The player has been fundamental to Xavi’s team and thus they do not want to lose him. The club is open to negotiation but they are not willing to talk to his agent. Often times agents try to increase the wage way more than required and they also want a signing bonus from which they can get a commission.

Dembele has to understand the club is not ready to give a lot of money just now however if he sticks around with the project, the team could be built around him and he can renegotiate his contract after a couple of years.
