Former Barcelona striker convinces this superstar to stay at Barca
Barcelona is having a tough time bringing in new players while contract negotiations with their current players are also not going that well. According to several reports, the Catalans are focused on bringing in at least four to five new players into the club which means that they have not been paying enough attention to their existing players. This has already caused some problems like Ousmane Dembele refusing to sign a new contract and now, even Ronald Araujo and Gavi have rejected their contract offers. It seems like Barca is so absorbed in bringing in new players that they are neglecting their current players.
However, the situation is a bit more tricky than Barca just not caring. The Catalans do want to retain their best players however, they used to have the biggest wages in the world and now they have to offer extremely small wages in order to keep the ship afloat. That is the main problem and Araujo is not willing to sign until he gets a better offer. The Uruguayan player is one of the most important players for the team, however, his salary is one of the lowest and Barca’s offers of 4 million euros a year is not a big improvement.
It was thought that the player would definitely explore other options with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United being interested in him however, an unlikely figure has popped up as Barca’s saviour. Yes, that is right, Luis Suarez, the former Catalan legend who was forced to leave the club, has apparently convinced his compatriot to stay put at Barca. According to journalist and Barca enthusiast, Gerard Moreno, the young defender sought advice from his senior and Suarez told him that his future will be bright if he stays at Catalunya. It is nice to see that the player does not hold any grudges against the club due to the mistreatment he had to face under Josep Bartomeu.
Suarez is an Uruguayan legend at Barcelona and Araujo is well on his way to picking up the mantle and carrying on the Uruguayan legacy at the club.
