Barcelona is a rapidly changing and evolving team at the moment. Last season they had the best player on the planet, but this season he is gone and almost 10 new players were brought into the club. The club is experimenting and trying out new procedures in order to tactically fix the mess left behind by Josep Maria Bartomeu. The current plan is to bring in new players via free transfers and let go of those who are not performing well. Thus, no one is safe from being benched or removed from the team altogether. Xavi Hernandez and Joan Laporta are on a warpath and their only goal is to bring back Barcelona to the top of the mountain.
Currently, the Catalans are looking out for players for the Summer transfer window. They have already signed Franck Kessie and they are close to signing Andreas Christensen as well. However, they won’t stop there and they want even more players. One position which the Catalans want to improve is the full-back area. Barca’s only young full-back at the moment is Sergino Dest and at the moment it seems like he might stay on at the club past this season. At one point it seemed like he would move on to another club since Xavi was not using him at all however, according to new reports, Xavi is apparently happy with his progress.
According to ESPN journalist, Moi Llorens, the manager is absolutely delighted with the recent improvement from Dest. The player had a lot of trouble adapting to the new game plan and style introduced by Xavi. The player was replaced by Dani Alves and the Catalans also planned on bringing in Noussair Mazraoui from Ajax. The plan to bring in Mazraoui is still active which begs us to ask this question, is there still a chance for this player at Barca?
The answer to that question will be revealed soon once the summer window arrives. He will either remain at the club or be sold to make way for Mazraoui.
