Barcelona is having some problems updating the contracts of their current players. With the club being so focused on bringing in new players in the summer, they have sort of unmindfully neglected their current players. According to reports, two of the club’s best young prospects, Ronald Araujo and Gavi, were unwilling to sign new contracts with the club since they were not being offered decent improvements on their wages. This was the main driving factor behind the rejection of the proposal and this also allowed richer teams from Europe to swoop in on the players, in order to lure them away from Barca.

Premier League teams such as Chelsea and Manchester United apparently even contacted Araujo however, the centre-back knew that he wanted to stay at Barca. The player was determined to negotiate a contract with the Catalans and according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the player has managed to do so. In an interview with Moviestar+ he said,

"“We are working on it, I want to stay here. I hope everything is resolved so I can stay many more years at this club.”_Source Goal via Moviestar+"

Romano has also claimed that the player is being tied down by the club via an enourmous one billion euros release clause, similar to Ansu Fati. The player will wear the Blaugrana colors till 2026 and the club now has one less player to worry about. The next in line will be Gavi, who has also refused to sign due to wages. Both Gavi and Araujo are instrumental for the club’s future and Araujo has already cemented himself into the first team.
